Project Outline

Rock Hall is a Grade II listed building, within an historic landscape. The Hall and Park is owned by Bolton Council, who are working in partnership with Lancashire Wildlife Trust to bring it back to life and to create a new community facility. This includes creating a new extension to the rear, which will enable new spaces to be created for community and education, a new café, toilet facilities and exhibition areas. There is a programme of capital works to repair and conserve the existing fabric, as well as to rediscover the landscaped gardens, with the creation of events spaces.

Project Mandate

We are appointed as project managers to co-ordinate and manage the team, monitor and report against progress, manage the project cost plan, co-ordinate the partners requirements and deliver the project against the Approved Purposes for the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Facing Challenges, Delivering Results

There was a change in partnership for this project, during the development stage, which required careful management and co-ordination in order to manage expectations and change for all stakeholders. We have provided support to the client, the team and to the funders to help ease this transition and to manage these changes. This included ensuring that a robust change management process was in place and that communication have been clear and concise across stakeholders. Although this journey has been challenging, coming through this unusual situation, has made the project and the team stronger and more resilient.

“I worked closely with the Fellstone team on a significant Heritage Fund project, over a long period. They were a pleasure to work with: professional and in command of the detail across the range of project management specialisms, yet open, welcoming and encouraging. They were especially good at building a broad project team, drawing in full contributions from all of the different members whilst keeping a clear sight on the project and client’s needs. For an evaluator, that was very welcome, as I felt part of the team and process – they actively sought insight and potential areas for improvement, in the best spirit of project management.”
