Project Outline
Accrington Market Chambers was built in 1890, as part of Accrington’s response to the rapid growth during the Industrial Revolution. Once housing shops, offices and more recently flats on the upper floors, the building will be given a new purpose to compliment the Accrington Town Centre redevelopment. The Community Hub which has a working title of ‘The Dome’, will provide key community spaces, museum and gallery spaces, as well as retail and café spaces.
Project Mandate
We were appointed as project managers to co-ordinate and manage the team, monitor and report against progress, manage the project cost plan, co-ordinate the partners requirements and deliver the project against the Approved Purposes for the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Facing Challenges, Delivering Results
The external works are being delivered by a separate team, which requires careful co-ordination to mitigate the risk to either project. Communication between all parties with regards scope and programme are key to ensuring that, for this project, the NLHF investment is protected and that every opportunity is given to create value for money across both projects.
"At Buttress we regularly work with Fellstone Projects. They are very capable Project Managers, although we find that they go beyond this, supporting their clients holistically to deliver brilliant projects."
“They have a key strength in heritage projects, particularly with complex grant funding arrangements. Unusually, they understand the whole of such projects, not only being able to deliver the capital works, but really understanding and being able to manage the interactions between activity, interpretation, evaluation, capital works etc. They have experienced complex project delivery acting client side, so understand what it’s like from a client perspective, enabling nuance and depth to their approach.
We find Fellstone Projects brilliant to work with, they are collaborative, detailed and highly skilled, we have no hesitation in recommending them to our clients.”
